ich war oft in allen möglichen ecken der USA. von 2001 bis 2011 im september regelmäßig mit meinem vater in manhattan. 2004 besuchte ich auf der anderen hudson-seite die gebrüder paterek, die (nicht schlecht) davon lebten, sehr frühe exemplare des porsche 356 originalgetreu wieder herzustellen. die beiden liebten ihren beruf, und ich schätzte den besuch bei ihnen in new jersey sehr.

die geschichte führte nicht nur zu diesem artikel in der süddeutschen zeitung, sondern auch zu einer diskussion mit “meinem” steuerprüfer. der prüfte im jahr darauf meine steuer und meinte, ein besuch in new york sei doch wohl nicht zum arbeiten da, sondern reines touristenvergnügen. ich zeigte ihm u. a. diesen artikel, worauf er dann noch immer nicht die klappe hielt. unterm strich bekam ich aufgrund seiner prüfung ca. 500 € vom finanzamt. nachdem man ihn wegen dieser erbärmlichen performance abgelöst hatte, wurde der fall fast geschlossen. die steuerprüferin forderte mich auf, mein geschäft mit oldtimern ordentlich als gewerbe anzumelden.

erinnert an ein mandelbrot apfelmännchen. ich stand auf der mitte des verlassenen platzes, habe mich aber wegretouchiert. aufgenommen mit der insta360 one x2.

this is a screenshot of the fading US president’s twitter account. i’ve followed this crook for four years and a week ago, when he bombarded his followers with foul statements, i finally personally got rid of him. today, after it became 100% clear that biden won all over georgia, i saw that trump mainly posted links to TV channels. actually, watching TV and using PR has always been his strategy. it led to bankcrupcy 5 times, and now he loses big for the 6th time.

this is my favourite photo of the month. i took it with the new insta360 one x2 next to the cologne cathedral. the city centre looked deserted, due to the corona virus precautions. i held the insta360 selfie stick upwards and called „take a photo“. half a second later the photo was done. i used the insta360 app to create a little planet version of it and finally applied several filters and manipulations with the snapseed app.

lies are all over the place. and easy to put aside and ignore. you just need to stick to the facts. and to the ethics you were brought up with.

donald trump moved lies to the mainstream. i found it astonishing with what kind of lies he won the 2016 election. and how he topped it with one tweet after the other. the tweets were never ending lies, simplifications.

it took some time to find out the algorithm in his head. not because it‘s so complicated, but because it‘s so trivial.

the current election shows this yet again. the numbers tell us, he lost it. not by a couple of percent, but by a big margin. so he just plants this lie: “i won.“ then his favourite support TV network foxnews tells its audience that biden won. so he plants the lie: “they lie!“ or, to put it in his terms: “they post fake news!“

if someone asks you why cars stop at red traffic lights and you tell them that this is wrong, everybody should stop at green traffic lights. how would you react?

the spikes on the round body of the corona virus gave the virus its name: crown = corona. these spikes consist of three identical proteins which align perfectly with each other. the illustration (which i produced using autodesk maya and the arnold renderer) shows the three proteins close to each other, just for demonstration reasons. the virus has a crown of more or less 40 such triple protein spikes.

dieses foto besteht aus sechs einzelaufnahmen meiner fotodrohne, aus etwa 250 metern höhe, selbstverständlich in absprache mit der deutschen flugsicherung. die hier horizontal abgebildete straße ist der waidmarkt, der links in die severinstraße übergeht und rechts in die innenstadt führt. das hervorgehobene gebiet ist das gelände des 2009 eingestürzten historischen archivs der stadt köln. die spurensicherung im so genannten “besichtigungsbauwerk” sind nach 11 jahren abgeschlossen, die urteile gesprochen. jetzt macht sich die stadt an die wieder instandsetzung der umstrittenen nord-süd-bahn, deren bau durch den einsturz jäh unterbrochen wurde. dazu entsteht zunächst eine neue brücke, die den improvisierten zickzack-straßenverlauf des waidmarkts begradigt. dafür wurde die straße anfang november für längere zeit für den verkehr (auch für fahrräder) gesperrt.

zur weiteren orientierung: oben schließt sich das friedrich-wilhelm-gymnasium an, links ist der im sommer 2020 fertig gestellte “vielvrings”-wohnkomplex zu sehen, rechts die kirche s.t georg und unten rechts die kaiserin-augusta-schule.
