i do like IT and networking. but i feel like fallen out of this world when people want to contact me via whatsApp. why have i resisted to join the whatsApp community? because of this:[\/one-third]<\/p>\n

whatsApp liest unsere kontakte aus. [two-thirds-first]<\/p>\n whatsApp schaut sich, oft ungefragt, das komplette adressbuch auf dem smartphone an, um die telefonnummern abzugleichen. es gibt keine m\u00f6glichkeit, der app nur bestimmte telefonnummern preiszugeben, sie will alle haben. wenn man dem bei der installation nicht zustimmt, wird die app erst gar nicht installiert.<\/span><\/p>\n whatsApp begr\u00fcndet das damit, dass es wie SMS funktioniert, aber eben fortschrittlicher. den fortschritt sehe ich nat\u00fcrlich (bilden von gruppen, senden von audionachrichten in guter qualit\u00e4t etc.) aber wenn ich schon meinem telefonanbieter teile des adressbuchs \u00f6ffne, hei\u00dft das nicht, dass ich das auch facebook gegen\u00fcber tun muss, und facebook hat whatsApp ja gekauft. dass das, wie in dem screenshot oben, \u00fcber eine verschl\u00fcsselte verbindung geschieht, muss ich dem a) per se nicht trauen und b) eine verschl\u00fcsselte verbindung von mir zu facebook, um dann dort entschl\u00fcsselt zu werden, kann ich eh in der pfeife rauchen. dann ist es vielleicht etwas schwerer f\u00fcr die NSA abzuh\u00f6ren, aber was von mir erst einmal auf einem x-beliebigen server landet, bleibt da und nie r\u00fcckholbar.<\/span><\/p>\n also, wenn mich jemand bittet, whatsApp zu installieren, dann gebe ich gern dieses beispiel als grund, dass ich’s so nicht mache: schon \u00f6fter gab mir jemand seine vertraulichen, sehr privaten kontaktdaten und bat mich, diese auch vertraulich zu behandeln, also unter keinen umst\u00e4nden weiterzugeben. das muss nicht paul mccartney sein, sondern das kann jemand sein, der\/die f\u00fcr enge freunde eine eigene kontaktm\u00f6glichkeit, quasi telefonnummer oder email nur f\u00fcr engste freunde und verwandte, eingerichtet hat. sobald ich whatsApp installiere, wandert auch dieses adressfeld mit telefonnummer r\u00fcber zu whatsApp und facebook. das ist dem freund gegen\u00fcber hochgradig unfair, im grunde eine vertrauensbruch. und deswegen bin ich nicht bei whatsApp.<\/span> und deswegen ist es abgr\u00fcndig unfair, wenn jemand einem anderen, dessen vertrauen und sehr privaten adressedaten er hat, zu sagen: ist mir doch egal, wenn whatsApp meine daten ausliest! <\/em>denn es liest auch die des anderen aus, der dem absolut nicht zugestimmt hat.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n [\/two-thirds-first] whatsApp checks, often without notification, the complete contacts list in a smartphone, in order to verify phone numbers. there is no option to prevent whatsApp to read certain groups of addresses and contacts. it wants them all. if you deny that access during installation, the app won’t install at all.<\/p>\n whatsApp argues that it is necessary to access the contacts list because the app serves as a modern follow-up to text messages (SMS). i can see the progress (building groups, sending high Q audio files etc.). but me opening my address book to my phone provider in order to use the mobile telephone service does not mean that i want to open up to facebook or anyone else. the screenshot above states that the data will be transmitted in an encrypted way \u2013 which may be a good weapon against NSA listening in, but a) i don’t trust that promise anyway, and b) sending a contacts list encrypted to whatsApp\/facebook where it will be decrypted is a joke.<\/p>\n imagine someone (say, paul mcCartney) gives you a very personal email address and phone number and asks you to keep it confidential. as soon as you open whatsApp those data will autonomously leave your smartphone and land on some alien server where whatsApp will try to match them with other clients‘ data and instantly know, that person has 7 very close friends (ringo starr, yoko ono, madonna, tony blair, and of course mcCartney’s children and grandchildren). that’s highly unfair by you because you broke your promise to keep the data to yourself. that’s the reason i haven’t joined whatsApp. and that’s why it’s deeply unfair to tell a person who shares a secret number or email address with you, that you don’t care about whatsApp’s data policy, you have nothing to hide. wrong! you compromised your friend.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/one-third]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [two-thirds-first] so sehr ich IT, vernetzung etc. mag, ich komme mir oft wie aus der welt gefallen vor, wenn mich leute nach whatsApp fragen. die halbe welt ist bei whatsApp angemeldet, warum nicht auch ich?
